Our Story

The Jemilius Aid and Relief Initiative (JAREI) was founded out of an unwavering passion for bettering lives and fostering resilience. What began in 2013 as a vision under the Ray of Hope Initiative, leading advocacy against human trafficking, gender-based violence, and promoting education, became an independent organization in July 2023. Officially incorporated with Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission in November 2023, JAREI is a youth-led initiative driven by a diverse team of professionals, including medical and humanitarian experts, united in their commitment to creating sustainable, life-changing impacts. Guided by the leadership of Ms. Jemima Zugwai Dabo, with over a decade of global humanitarian experience, we work to empower communities through innovative projects in WASH, livelihood programming, shelter, and more, striving for a future of self-sufficiency and hope.

Nigeria faces various crises, including the Boko Haram insurgency and banditry, leading to displacement and extreme poverty. JAREI addresses these issues by providing sustainable humanitarian and developmental services in the identified thematic areas.

Our Mandate

Climate Action
We integrate sustainable practices into our humanitarian efforts in Nigeria, focusing on renewable energy, reforestation, and climate-smart agriculture to enhance community resilience and reduce environmental impact. Each project aims to create awareness on climate change and equip communities to take action. Action at the grassroot level is key to surmounting sustainable climate action.

Gender Equality
Knowing the inequalities Nigerian women face especially those being faced with humanitarian emergencies, JAREI advances gender equality by empowering women and girls through education, economic opportunities, and protection services, addressing gender-based violence, and promoting equal access to resources. Efforts has been made to target and engage women equally during program processes and sensitize them on the issue of gender inequalities and proffer solutions.

Disability Inclusion
JAREI ensures disability inclusion in all programs by designing accessible infrastructure, providing tailored support services, and advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, enabling full community participation and benefit. Our approach ensures that all members of the community, regardless of their abilities, can participate fully in and benefit from our interventions.
